Meaka Benton Heart of a Fighterheart of Fighter

Meaka Kai Benton was born on July 1, 1977, in Chicago Illinois, as one of four children to Andrew (AD) McChristian and Brenda (Benton) Mays. Meaka graduated from Chicago vocational high school (CVS). Meaka moved to Palatine Illinois in her early 20s and became a member of 

Life Changers Church.

She started her career in Insurance, working as a temporary agent. Her hard work propelled her to a Worker’s Comp. adjuster at Gallagher Bassett. She decided to go back to school and earned an Associate’s degree from Harper College in 2011. She then continued her career as a workers comp. adjuster with Zürich until 2022, when she accepted a senior position with Liberty Mutual as a Catastrophe, Worker’s Comp. adjuster. 

In 2019 Meaka relocated to Dallas, Tx. already in great physical shape her passion for fitness was accelerated. Texas led her to her fitness family and her partner.

Texas is where she began her entrepreneurial endeavors and birthed her home accessories line, Flowers and Pearls.  She also created Mentor Mommy Coaching where she focused on building young professionals.

Meaka fought a one year battle with stage four cancer and made her transition on April 18, 2024.

Meaka was a daughter, a mother, a sister, an aunt, a cousin, a friend and a significant other. 

Proceeding her in death were her parents, A.D. McChristian and Brenda (Benton) Mays and her Grandmother Thelma Mays. 

Those of us who are left to cherish her memory are: 

Her one and only son, Cordell Finley, which she referred to as her Angel, (which we never understood) LOL, her sisters Miesha, Kenya, Shauntae and Shakina, and 2 brothers, Gene and Jeff, a special niece who looks just like her that Meaka thought was her daughter, Dior, a special Aunt Valree,  and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, cousins and friends . And last but certainly not least her significant other Charles.
